THE WORLD IN MY MIND
MARKER ON PAPER
2022
9 X 12"
If you couldn’t tell from the title, this artwork tells about a story that I came up with in my mind. The story is that a company in space is removing asteroids to make room for their growing city in the sky. I got the idea for this project from a few of my doodles but it ended up representing my imagination and creativity. As I worked on this piece, I realized that the theme connects to my other artwork because I unknowingly included the removal of part of the natural world, just in a different form. I want this artwork to inspire others and show them that art doesn’t have to be sad and dull, it can be a wild mess coming from your own imagination.
PERCEPTIVE PRIMATES
ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
2023
24" X 36"
As humans, we put value on beauty whether it be jewelry, cars, or people themselves. I believe this idea relates to nature and animals. Gorillas are one of the thousands of species on the critically endangered list yet they are continually hunted for meat to serve as a delicacy to the wealthy. From what I have gathered as the popular opinion, gorillas are not considered beautiful but rather scary or ugly. In my painting, you can see two gorillas staring at the audience waiting to see what the people will do to either help them or pronounce them unworthy of it because of their outer appearance.

MYSTERIOUS MAMMALS
MIXED MEDIA ON CANVAS
2023
24" X 30"
As a kid, I looked at the foreign animals around the world and I remember thinking that they were incredible. The pangolin was among these, though I didn’t know the name of them at the time. Pangolins are hunted for their unique scales and another mammal affected by habitat loss. Other people may look at this scaly creature with disgust but I think that it’s not fair to judge animals by their classification and appearance. I hope that viewers will take a second look before deeming an animal ugly and consider the wonderful attributes of every species.
TOWERS IN THE SNOW
2023
RELIEF PRINTING
15.5” X 19”
This piece is about how people and location affect the way that architecture looks. For this, I portrayed St. Basil’s Cathedral which is located in Moscow, Russia. In Russia, there can be a lot of snow and the sky gets dark during the winter so you can imagine that the citizens and visitors can start to feel down. That is why Russian architecture uses bright colors and shapes because they help to keep everyone upbeat and happy. I thought that this was a great example to portray my idea that an objects design looks the way it does for specific reasons which is why I chose it for my project.
